Manage the month-end close processes owned by the India Global Accounting team to prepare timely, accurate financial data that is in compliance with US GAAP and Avalara accounting policies.
Manage the month-end financial review process and variance analysis for assigned expense and balance sheet accounts.
Communicate and collaborate effectively across the Global Accounting team.
Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and related documentation to support strong internal controls in accordance with SOX 404 and US GAAP.
Manage, develop, mentor, and regularly assess and review performance metrics for direct reports.
Maximize efficiencies, organize work processes and procedures, and automate procedures through system improvements.
Complete ad-hoc analysis and projects as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant
7 to 10 years of accounting experience
3 to 5 years of people management experience
Experience with accounting under US GAAP; including exposure to complex accounting matters, including but not limited to consolidation matters, currency matters, revenue recognition, impairment, among other topics
Additional qualifications of CPA is preferred
Ideal background from SaaS industry
NetSuite (preferred) or other large ERP systems experience such as Oracle or SAP
Experience with internal controls and SOX compliance is preferred.
Experience performing intercompany accounting for both foreign and domestic entities is preferred
Highly proficient analyzing data in Microsoft Excel
Experience working with large data sets and automation tools, preferred
Strong verbal and written communications in English
Skilled in writing policies and procedures
Experience in team management and career development
